Vulcan Shield Global Advances European Expansion with New Milestone in Békéscsaba

Vulcan Shield Hungary has reached a significant milestone with the ceremonial foundation stone laying of its new manufacturing facility in Békéscsaba, Hungary.

The event was attended by senior leadership from Vulcan Shield Global, alongside key government representatives including Péter Szijjártó, István Joó, Dr Árpád Takács, and Péter Szarvas, highlighting the strategic importance of the project to Hungary’s industrial development.

Production Commences in Hungary

In parallel with the foundation milestone, Vulcan Shield Hungary has commenced production of advanced ceramic and alumina fiber insulation materials at its temporary facility located at INPARK. This enables early-stage supply to European customers ahead of the completion of the permanent plant.

Since establishing operations in Békéscsaba just seven months ago, Vulcan Shield Hungary has made rapid progress in building its manufacturing capabilities and local presence.

Building a Local Industrial Ecosystem

As part of its long-term strategy, Vulcan Shield Hungary has actively engaged with the local ecosystem:

  • A job fair attracting hundreds of applicants, supporting regional employment
  • A supplier forum connecting with approximately 60 local and regional companies
  • A university partnership with the University of Szeged, fostering research collaboration and talent development

These initiatives reflect a commitment to building a sustainable and collaborative industrial base in Hungary.

Establishment of a World-Class R&D Centre

A key announcement during the event was the establishment of AIMRI (Advanced Inorganic Materials Research Institute & Innovation Centre), a world-class research and development centre to be based in Budapest.

AIMRI will focus on advancing inorganic material technologies and supporting next-generation applications across high-performance industries. The centre will play a pivotal role in strengthening Hungary’s position as a hub for advanced manufacturing, research, and innovation.

Strengthening Global Supply and Innovation

The development of Vulcan Shield Hungary strengthens the broader group’s global manufacturing footprint, complementing existing operations and enhancing supply capabilities across regions.

With manufacturing presence in both Asia and Europe, the group is better positioned to support customers with improved supply chain resilience, regional accessibility, and long-term reliability.
